For me a piece of jewelry is not worn. You wear it to let yourself be carried into its world. It is more than just an accessory which enhances a fashion context. It is a sign, having its own message. This collection - “EvanEsence”- combines wax casting and construction tehniques as an allegory for the subtle balance between evanescent and the essence of life.

- What is the name of your brand and what's the meaning behind it?
I design under the brand name of @ContemplativJewellery. Contemplative is an attitude. An attitude of stopping once in a while from our everyday race in order to learn to look again towards ourselves and everything that surrounds us, beyond stereotypes, power of habit, the fast paced life of the contemporary man who is lacking time more and more. It is a way of life, of searching and creatively discovering poetry in the precariousness and impermanence in the world itself.

 - Where do you take inspiration from when you start creating a new collection?
I don’t have a favorite source of inspiration. It can come from anywhere. Sometimes I can start creating from a concept that philosophically seduces me and which challenges me to translate it in another language, more tangible, like the one of the jewel. But most of the times I have random sources of inspiration: the shape of a wood fragment I found on the street, the feeling of a day, the color of a stone, a used object somebody disposed of and which I would like to recover. I enjoy this game: of using materials others considered useless or even ugly and placing them in a different context, of a jewel, where they become interesting and recover their aesthetic value.

 - What kind of work or material or technique do you prefer to use?
I prefer silver, but also precarious materials encountered accidentally: pieces of wood, tin from household items, or even industrial materials etc. The jewelry becomes an unconventional collage, metamorphosis of the initial purpose of the materials and also of the bearer who is in touch with it. In my collections I combine wax casting and construction techniques as an allegory for the subtle balance between evanescence and the essence of life, between spontaneity and planned project, between nature’s organic and the modern day urban architectural shapes.

- Three words with which you would describe the Artistar Jewels project.
Eclectic Inspirational Connection

- Have you been fascinated by any particular creation you saw in the Artistar jewels 2019 edition?
Doris Gabrielliand and, of course, the strong romanian presence.

- What were the opportunities that most pushed you to participate in the event?
The fact that it is an international event which has grown year by year and also the fact that each edition ends with the traditional album by now  - “The Contemporary Jewel as never seen before”.

- What do you think about the upcoming Milano Jewelry Week? Do you think Milano needed it?
In public, the press and 2019 Artistar designers reveal that Milano is ready and willing to host this new event.
