Interviewing Anastasia Khazyrbekava

Anastasia Khazyrbekava
Belarus

She was born and raised in Belarus before moving to Israel, where she studied Jewelry design at “Shenkar". She has an undergraduate degree in culturology and arts, which are useful now as she explores her personal language through jewelry. When she works, she experiments and finds new ways to create.

- When did you start dedicating yourself to the world of contemporary jewelry?
I have always been interested in art,  that is why after school I decided to study Cultural science at Belarusian University of Culture and Art.  I became interested in jewelry art after moving to Israel, where I entered the College “Shenkar - Engineering. Design. Art”, Department of jewelry design where I study up to this day. Now the world of jewelry is my way of life, which I love very much.

- What do you take inspiration from when you start creating a new collection?
I still do not have much experience in jewelry design, maybe that's why I do not  have the definite way of creating collections. As a rule, I am inspired by things that interest me, it can be  ballet, the work of some artist or just nature, as in the case of the collection "Thirst for Life".

- What kind of work or material do you prefer?
I like to work with both traditional and non-traditional materials. In addition to metal and stones, I work a lot with Plexiglas.

- Three words with which you would describe the Artistar Jewels project.
Contemporary
Inspirational
Multicultural

- What were the services / opportunities that most pushed you to participate in the event?
When I received an invitation from Artistar Jewels, I was very interested in the exhibition, but I decided to get the opinion of the participants of the previous year. I got a good feedback from other artists, so it was the decisive factor for me in favor of Artistar Jewels 2018.
